Williamstown, MA - For their third match of the weekend, Williams played Connecticut College. The Ephs showed no signs of fatigue as they sailed to their fourth win in a row, defeating Conn College 8-1. Eph head coach
Anik Cepeda said, "They took care of their half of the court today. Three matches in a row, and three days of great focus."
As the Ephs changed surface to the ice rink, they found the ball coming at them faster and the speed at which the matches went were much quicker. However, they were able to sweep doubles with number two doubles team
Jane Ladaga and
Ananya Aggarwal stunning their opponents 8-0, and allowing the other Ephs to relax and speedily win their matches as well.Â
Â
With a 3-0 lead overall, Williams carried the momentum into singles. Number one and five
Katherine Orgielewicz and
Maya Jamroz quickly took their first sets without dropping a game, putting immense pressure on their opponents, allowing them to sail to a win in the second set. Number three Aggarwal and number four Ladaga also took their first sets only dropping a single game, and both only focused more in the second and clinically defeated their opponents 6-0. Number two
Mia Thomann was no less focused and energetic, and inspired by her teammates steadily securing points for Williams, she sped through her first set 6-0 and only dropped a game in her second set, which put Williams at 8-0, and an overall score of 8-1 due to default.Â
Â
Cepeda added, "A shout out to this squad for just being tough as nails — we haven't had the best streak of luck injury-wise for some time, but they've stayed so resilient through it all. Time for them to rest and recover, and then we'll get after in practice. The goal continues to be to improve day by day, and peak competitively in May."Â
The Ephs look forward to playing Middlebury this Saturday at 10am on their home courts.Â
