Ephs Have Strong Day of Competition at Dick Farley Invitational

— The Williams Women's Track and Field team competed at home in the Dick Farley Invitational on Saturday. The day was filled with strong performances across event groups, as well as celebrations for the soon-to-be-graduating senior athletes. 

The Ephs kicked off Saturday's competition with the throws. In the hammer throw, Emma Miller '26 placed 2nd overall with a mark of 39.04m. This mark is a new personal best for Miller and qualifies her for the NESCAC championships. Chloe Schneeberg '25 had her collegiate debut in the hammer on Saturday, hitting a mark of 28.02m good for 6th place. The Ephs continued their success In the shotput, where Emma Miller '26 took the win. Her throw of 11.58m is a NESCAC and DIII New Englands qualifying mark. Captains Hannah Brown '23 and Caroline Douglas '23 took 3rd and 4th place in the shot put, respectively. Brown's mark of 9.84m and Douglas' mark of 9.43m were both NESCAC qualifiers. Chloe Schneeberg '25  placed 7th in the shot put with a mark of 8.37m.  In the discus, Emma Miller '26 and Hannah Brown '23 continued their successful day of throws. Miller placed 4th with a 31.73m and Brown placed 7th with a mark of 26.47m, both new personal bests and NESCAC qualifiers for the Ephs. In the javelin, Livi Mazerolle '26 led the Ephs with her mark of 21.41m. Alisa Kanganis '25 and Claudia Iannelli '23 both had their collegiate debuts in the javelin, placing 8th and 10th respectively.

Like the throwers, the Williams jumpers and vaulters had strong performances throughout the meet. In the high jump, Amelie Jamanka '26 took 1st with a new personal best of 1.63m. This mark qualifies her for NESCACs and DIII New Englands. Later in the day, Kristen Chou '23 led the Ephs in the long jump. Chou placed 2nd with a mark of 5.30m, qualifying her for NESCACs and DIII New Englands. Morgan Nasir '25 placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 5.05m. Daisy Valle '25 placed 6th with a mark of 4.83m, a new collegiate best. Livi Mazerolle '26 placed 8th with a jump of 4.73m. Like Chou, Nasir, Valle, and Mazerolle qualified for NESCACs in the long jump.

Valle went on to represent the Ephs in the triple jump, placing 3rd with a NESCAC-qualifying mark of 9.80m. The women's pole vault was the final event of the day and featured some exciting performances by the Ephs. Jae Yu '25 won the event with a new personal best of 3.66m. Ellie Fitzgerald '26 took 2nd in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35m. Both Yu and Fitzgerald hit the NESCAC and DIII New England qualifying standards for the event. Also in the pole vault was Poppy Miller '25, taking 3rd with 3.05m to qualify for NESCACs.

The Williams sprinters also performed well. In the 100m dash, Malia Klein '25 placed 4th in 12.53 seconds for a new collegiate best. Captain Kristen Chou '23 placed 5th, finishing in 12.72 seconds for a personal best. Both Ephs qualified for NESCACs and DIII New Englands. Also in the 100m was captain Caroline Douglas '23 who finished in 13.11 seconds for 8th place, a college best, and a NESCAC qualification. The Ephs saw the same success in the 200m race. Rachel Arthur '25 finished in 2nd with a time of 26.05 seconds. Close behind was Malia Klein '25 who finished in 26.08 seconds for 3rd place and a new personal best. Both Ephs qualified for NESCACs and DIII New Englands. Ella Sukup '26 and captain Claudia Iannelli '23 also competed in the 200m, finishing in 4th and 7th place respectively. Sukup's time of 26.31 and Iannelli's time of 27.45 are both NESCAC qualifiers. In the 400m, Ella Sukup '26 won the event with a time of 1:02.58. Close behind was Elsa Martin '25, who placed 2nd with a time of 1:03.61. Both Ephs qualified for NESCACs in the 400m.

The Ephs had many strong finishes in the mid-distance and distance events, too. In the 800m, captain Lily Wells '23 took 1st with a time of 2:20.40 to qualify for NESCACs and DIII New Englands. Nora Johnson '25 took 2nd with a time of 2:23.80, followed by Alex Bettez '23 in 3rd with a time of 2:27.53. Grace Kaercher '25 placed 4th with a time of 2:28.91. Johnson, Bettez, and Kaercher all qualified for NESCACs. In the 1500m, Maddy Lawler '24 led the Ephs with her 1st place finish in 4:54.05. Sammie Seamon '24 also ran the 1500m, taking 3rd with a time of 4:59.06. Sophie Rosencrans '25 finished 5th with a time of 5:00.30. Kate Swann '26 finished in 5:11.18 for 8th place in the 1500m. All four Ephs in the 1500m qualified for NESCACs.

Williams hurdlers had great races in the 100m and 400m hurdles on Saturday. In the 100m hurdles, Hayden Colfax '25 finished in 16.00 seconds for 3rd place and a DIII New Englands qualification. Captain Caroline Douglas '23 finished in 4th with a collegiate best time of 16.36 seconds. Both Colfax and Douglas also qualified for NESCACs. Greta Vaughn '26 represented the Ephs in the 400m hurdles, taking 1st in the event with a time of 1:10.54 seconds to qualify for NESCACs.

The Ephs enjoyed coming together to celebrate their graduating seniors during Saturday's competition. The team looks forward to continuing their successful outdoor season at the NESCAC championships next weekend at Connecticut College.
