Ephs Big Second Inning Leads To 12-4 Victory Over Bard College

Williamstown, MA - The Williams College Baseball Team took on Bard College at home Tuesday and won, 12-4. The Ephs host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute tomorrow at 4:00 PM. 

Taking the win for Williams was sophomore, Max Hart. Hart was on the mound for 6 innings and didn't allow a single earned run. Dean Brown took the loss for the Raptors, pitching through 3 innings and allowing 2 earned runs. 

The Williams offense exploded in the second inning, scoring 5 runs. The scoring started with Daniel Lynch, who walked and then stole second base. Luca Lopetrone then hit a single that advanced Lynch to third base, and Lopetrone stole second base. Sasha Palma then grounded out, allowing Lynch to score the first run of the game. Lopetrone then scored an unearned run after an error by Bard's third baseman. Another error from Bard's third baseman allowed senior Matthew Brown to score. After a couple of walks, the bases were loaded, and Cole Whitehouse was hit by a pitch, resulting in a score by Mike Giove. Kedar Veeraswam then scored the fifth run of the inning after a single from Lynch. The Ephs entered the third inning up, 5-0.

In the top of the fourth inning the Raptors managed to score a run due to an error, and Bryant Elliot crossed home plate. However, Williams quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring a single run. First-year Sasha Palma scored after a single  to left center by Ellington Fagan. Entering the fourth, Williams led 6-1.

The Williams offense kept up the momentum in the fourth inning. With runners Cole Whitehouse and David Driscoll on second and third base, Luca Lopetrone stepped up to the plate and hit a powerful single to left field. This hit allowed both Whitehouse and Driscoll to score, adding two more runs to the Ephs' lead. Lynch scored the ninth run for the Ephs after a Bard balk. 

Kedar Veeraswamy brought the Ephs scoring to double digits in the bottom of the fifth, after a Lynch single to right field. Bard added their second run in the top of the seventh inning after Sam Dumper hit a single up the middle, leading to a score from Jimmy Famularo. 

Both teams added two runs in the eighth inning, concluding the game at 12-4. Both of Bard's runs in the eighth were unearned. Scoring the last 2 runs for the Ephs were Singleton and Brown

The Ephs hope to keep the momentum heading into the game tomorrow against RPI.
