Williamstown, MA - The Williams College Baseball team was defeated Friday by Trinity, 7-4.
Taking the start for Williams was senior Will Jeffries pitching through 4 innings and allowing 3 earned runs. Alex Chang took the win, allowing no earned runs through 6 innings.
Trinity opened the scoring after a single to right field from Brandon Chow, Andrew Park scored. Trinity added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings from Jack Ryan and Dylan Schnitzer. Trinity led 3-0 at the end of the fifth.
The seventh was highlighted by Sean Meth's two-run single. Trinity added two more runs in the seventh, one coming from a wild pitch, the other an unearned run from Tyler Bernstein.
Williams attempted a comeback in the eighth inning after a couple of walks set Sasha Palma and Jakob Cohn up on first and second. Henry Juan followed with a single, loading the Ephs bases. Sasha Palma scored the first run for Williams after Cole Whitehouse was grounded out. Dave Driscoll hit a single bringing the game to 7-3, after runs from Cohn and Juan.
Matthew Brown opened the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff home run. Unfortunately, it was the last run for the Ephs, concluding the game at 7-4.
