Ephs Notch 9th Consecutive Win Downing Babson 13-5 on the Road

Box Score BABSON PARK, MA – The Williams College women's lacrosse team (9-1) extended their win streak to nine games with a 13-5 road win over Babson College this evening.
 
Eph head coach Alice Lee stated, "Great team win today. Lots of connections from across the field from defense to the attack. The energy was electric between the entire team on-and-off the field."
 
Williams blanked the Babson Beavers in the first quarter and orchestrated a 3-0 lead after one quarter on goals by three different players.
 
Isabel Arvelo opened the scoring in the game at 11:58 when she scored unassisted. A little over 6 minutes later Paige Nelson doubled the Eph lead when she scored off a pass from Lauren Morganlander. Elsa Dean-Muncie tallied the third Eph goal at 4:44 assisted by Franny Donohue.
 
Elsa Dean-Muncie netted her second goal at 14:41 of the second quarter, this time with Meaghan Day assisting and the Ephs led 4-0.
 
At 11:42 Babson's Emily Curtis converted on a free position attempt to get the Beavers on the scoreboard, down 4-1. Isabel Arvelo responded to the Curtis tally by notching a free position goal of her own at 11:09 to re-establish the 4-goal Eph lead, 5-1.
 
Eph goalie Caroline Pratt denied a free position attempt by Babson's Solana Fahey at 10:10 and then at 7:23 she stopped a free position attempt by Claudia Dodge.
 
With 1:00 left in the second quarter Franny Donohue setup Abby Godwin for the Ephs' sixth goal of the contest and the Eph lead was now 5, 6-1.
 
In the first half the Ephs out shot Babson 14-7. Both teams caused 6 turnovers and the Ephs committed 11 turnovers, while the Beavers turned the ball over 13 times.
 
Eph netminder Caroline Pratt stopped 3 of the 4 shots she faced while Babson's Kathleen Murphy recorded 5 saves on 11 shots.
 
Babson's Emily Curtis opened the second half scoring with an unassisted goal at 13:39 in the third quarter. Just over a minute later the Ephs Franny Donohue answered the Curtis goal off a feed from Lauren Morganlander and the Eph lead was back to 5, 7-2.
 
At 11:45 Babson scored their second goal of the third quarter when Emily Curtis passed to Claudia Dodge who converted for the Beavers and the Eph lead was now 4, 7-3. At 11:22 Babson's Emily Curtis had a free position attempt, but her shot went wide of the goal. Seconds later Caroline Pratt denied the Beavers Nicole Darveau.
 
The Eph lead grew to 5 when Isabel Arvelo slotted home a free position opportunity at 6:52.
Another free position attempt by Isabel Arvelo was successful at 3:14 and the Eph lead was up to 6, 9-3.
 
With just under a minute and a half remaining in the third quarter Eph netminder Caroline Pratt caused a turnover and notched a ground ball pickup to snuff out a Beaver attack.
 
Elsa Dean-Muncie scored unassisted with 20 seconds remaining in the quarter and the Eph lead was now 7, 10-3.
 
The Beavers' Emily Curtis notched the first goal of the fourth quarter and her team's 4th goal on a free position opportunity and the Eph lead was now 6, 10-4.
 
At 10:03 Babson earned another free position attempt and again Emily Curtis was successful and the Eph lead was now 5, 10-5, and the Ephs elected to take a timeout.
 
At 8:11 Franny Donohue scored on a free position opportunity and the Eph lead was back to 6, 11-5. With 3:48 remaining Caroline Pratt denied Babson's  Jessica Evans on a free position opportunity and at 3:42 Pratt denied Solana Fahey.
 
Twelve seconds after the Pratt save on the Fahey attempt, Meaghan Day tallied the Ephs 12th goal unassisted.
 
At 1:56 Katy McCullough scored the final goal of the contest to make the final score 13-5 in favor of the Ephs. Franny Donohue assisted on the McCullough goal.
 
On the night the Ephs outshot Babson 26-19. Williams caused the Beavers to turn the ball over 13 times.
 
Eph goalie Caroline Pratt registered 9 saves and allowed 5 goals. Isabel Arvelo led the Eph attack netting 4 goals, while Franny Donohue added 2 goals and recorded 3 assists.
 
The Ephs will next play at home on April 11 when they will host Hamilton at 7 PM in a NESCAC contest on Farley-Lamb Field.
