Clinton, N.Y. - The Williams College Baseball team (8-10/3-3 NESCAC) won a much needed ballgame to close out the series against Hamilton College. The Ephs won 9-5 after taking 2 losses to the Continentals.
Hamilton opened the scorecard in the second inning after Ethan Harrast hit a triple to right center. He would score unearned off an error. Williams got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning, following a
Luca Lopetrone double to left field. Scoring for the Ephs was
Matthew Brown, and
Daniel Lynch.
Luca Lopetrone would add another run on a wild pitch, putting Williams up 3-1.
Henry Juan would hit a timely double to right field, sending
Jakob Cohn and
Luca Lopetrone home. The Ephs headed into the bottom of the sixth with a 5-1 lead. Hamilton would would go on a run and tie the ballgame up in the bottom of the seventh.
Williams would pull away scoring 4 unanswered runs to finish their trip to Clinton, N.Y. The Ephs tallied 3 runs inthe 8th inning and one in the ninth to claim the victory. In the 8th inning
Cole Whitehouse tripled to right center filed to drive in Henry Jaun. Whitehouse came home on
James O'Connor's
home run to right field. In the ninth inning the Ephs'
Luca Lopetrone's sacrifice fly to right field brought home
Daniel Lynch who went 3 for 3 on the day at the plate.
Taking the victory for the Ephs was
Eric Gage who retired one batter on a fly out. Jack Cloughert would take the loss for Hamilton.
