Box Score MEDFORD, MASS – The Williams College Softball team (22-15/13-6 NESCAC) today faced top-seeded Tufts University (37-4/17-2 NESCAC) in the last game of the NESCAC Championship Tournament, winning 3-1 over the Jumbos to claim their seventh championship, first since 2018.
After an outstanding day of pitching yesterday in the Ephs games against Trinity and Bates Colleges,
Sadie Leonard continued to impress, recording seven strikeouts in today's game.
The Ephs scored first in the second inning when Vicky Balderas reached first on an error and
Ronni Ramos walked, advancing her to second.
Adhya Tandon then singled up the middle and Balderas scored.
The team earned two more runs in the third inning when
Kayla Chang singled to center field and Kelly McGuigan homered to left center, bringing the score to 3-0. The Jumbos scored once in the sixth, and the game ended in a 3-1 victory for the Ephs. With the win the Ephs claim the NESCAC's Automatic Bid to the 2023 NCAA DIII Tournament.
"I'm so proud of our effort. Every one of us was dialed in all day... all weekend," said Eph head coach
Kris Herman. "So many great individual performances, but truly a team effort against a great Tufts team."
