WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- For their second match of the weekend, the Williams Ephs played Bowdoin No. 18. After a well deserved win yesterday, the Ephs are ready to hit the ground running with their matches today. The Ephs fought hard with a 9-0 win and are ready to play even harder for their next matches on against Colby tomorrow.
On first today were
Melanie Wang (#1),
Rhea Pandit (#5), and

Deena Iqbal (#9),
Sophia Koehler (#2), and
Theresa Kay (#4) played the second round of matches against Bowdoin. Koehler and Co-captain Kay put up a strong fight by playing deep and cutting off their opponent's shots and Iqbal stayed up in the center of the court to volley her opponents shots as well. All three players clinched the win in three straight games.
The last round of matches were played by
Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis (#8),
Rachel Miller (#2), and
Anika Kakarla (#5) at the Simon Squash Center. Freshmen Jefferson-Sambanis and Miller both used efficient movement and cut off their opponents lengthy shots with precise volleys. Kakarla went to four games with her Bowdoin opponent, eventually adding a purple point to the board with fast pace and quick hands.Â
After the match, Head Coach
Hesham Aly commented, "We crushed it today and played consistent and steady, but we need to match the energy for Colby tomorrow."
The Ephs are looking forward to playing Colby College, ranked #25, on Sunday at noon.
