WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - This Sunday, the Men's squash team played Colby at home and won 7-2. The team faced talented opponents up and down the line, but the Ephs stuck to their game plans to take the win. Co-Captain
Andrew Minnis said that he was "proud of the way the team ended the weekend with a strong finish."
Starting off the match for the Ephs on the three court system was Pierce Henderson, who used his control of the ball to win in three games. Jack Lee swiftly followed suit, using all four corners of the court well to win 3-0. Co-captain Will Evans started off strong and won the first game, but a change in strategy from his opponent caused him to lose 3-1.
Starting off the second round of matches for the Ephs was John Nicholson, who won solidly in three games. Next up was Asher Leavy, who won a key match at the four seed. He won the first game 11-7, but a lapse in focus cost him the second game. However, he regrouped and won his match 3-1. Last on in the second round was Nick Agger, who won the first two games, but unfortunately lost in five to a talented opponent.Â
And starting off the third and final round of matches was Hudson Lin, who won solidly in three games to not only win his match but to secure the fifth match win for the team. Next up was Alex Akbari, who won a close first game 12-10, but then lost the second after some erratic play. He recovered in the third but a lapse in focus cost him the fourth. Eventually, he closed out his match 3-2 in the fifth game. Co-Captain Andrew Minnis exhibited some of his best squash yet, beating a talented opponent swiftly in three games.Â
Williams remains undefeated during the second half of their season. They look forward to their match next weekend at Middlebury.Â
