HANOVER, NH -- The Ephs traveled to Hanover for the highly anticipated midweek match against Dartmouth, ranked 11th in the country. After the loss against Middlebury on Saturday, the Ephs were ready to challenge Dartmouth, but the match ended in a 9-0 result in Dartmouth's favor.
On first today were
Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis (#5),
Roshni Pal (#9), and
Melanie Wang (#2). First year Jefferson-Sambanis fought hard and won the second game in her match against her Dartmouth opponent, but ultimately lost the match in four close games.Â
The second round of players were
Rachel Miller (#3), co-captain
Nora Brant (#6), and
Amanda Solecki (#8). Brant played tough by hitting tight drops and drives that stuck against the side walls, with a game ball in the third game.
The last round of matches were played by
Sophia Koehler (#1),
Deena Iqbal (#7), and then
Anika Kakarla (#4). Koehler played strategic and fast paced, but eventually fell in three games.Â
At the end of the match, head coach
Hesham Aly commented, "This was a tough loss, but the team knows what to work on for the next important matches ahead."
The Ephs are looking forward to playing Tufts on Saturday.
