WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- For the last match of the weekend, the Ephs played the the Dickinson College Devils ranked #21. The Ephs prevailed with a 6-3 win after some strong matches.
  Â
The first round of matches were played by freshmen
Rachel Miller (#3),
Anika Kakarla (#6), and
Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis (#9). Kakarla and Jefferson-Sambanis swiftly beat their opponents in three straight games, and won their matches. With some close games, Miller fought hard with tight drives and volleys, but fell in three games.Â
  Â
Next up were
Deena Iqbal (#8),
Sophia Koehler (#2), and
Theresa Kay (#4). Sophomore Iqbal and co-captain Kay won in three games, staying high on the center of the court and keeping control of the ball. Koehler fell into a four-game battle with her opponent. She won the second game with precise drops and dying lengthy shots, but lost focus in the next couple games, leading to a win for the Devils.Â
The last round was played by
Nora Brant (#7), Â
Melanie Wang (#1), and
Rhea Pandit (#5). Brant fought hard in the first game, not letting her opponent take control, and was able to finish off the match in three games. First Year Wang dug every ball and played smart and strategic squash, but she eventually fell in three games, with a last game that could have gone either way. Pandit volleyed and stayed patient throughout her match, with quick movements to beat her Dickinson opponent in three straight games.Â
After the match, Eph head coach
Hesham Aly commented "The women's team finished off the weekend strong. They stayed focused today. After a day of rest, we will get back on court to continue training hard for the upcoming matches at home."
