Saratoga, NY – The Williams men's golf team sits tied for second place after day one of the Skidmore Invitational hosted at Saratoga Spa State Park Golf Course.
Leading the way for the Ephs was sophomore
Alex Moller carding an even par 72. Moller was excellent all day long as he has been all season. He rolled in four birdies today en route to his low round for the Ephs.
Senior captain
Phillip Clifton and junior
Will Rich each finished at 4-over 76. Clifton commented after the round: "I was very impressed by our fight out there. The course was playing tough and we played our best round of the fall season."
Rounding out the scores for the Ephs was first-year
Hunter Justice, coming in at 6-over par 78.
Eph head coach
Josh Hillman spoke on the performance of the team today: "I had yet to see the team battle as hard as they did today. The conditions were very, very challenging and we fought for every par. We also made a lot of birdies to offset the bogies. The greens were very firm and the wind blew all day, club and shot selection was at a premium. Alex continues to play well, he has had a very steady season. Phill and Will played great and both Owen and Hunter fought hard to post nice rounds. We are headed in the right direction for sure."
The Ephs look to bring home the hardware tomorrow in round two.
