Nick Smith was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Freshman Team Friday.
Smith was named NESCAC Golfer and Rookie of the Year, while also earning a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Smith became the fifth-ever Eph to earn the NESCAC Men's Golfer of the Year accolade and first since 2014-15.
The Rye, New York, native earned medalist laurels at the conference championship, scoring a 71-70-72-213 and leading Williams to its first conference title since the 2016-17 season. He also earned individual-champion honors during the Williams Fall Invitational on Sept. 20-21, recording a 75-65-72-212 score on Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Smith competed in 21 rounds during his rookie season, shooting in the 60s twice and 70s on 17 occasions. His career-low round is a 65 on during the second round of the Williams Fall Invitational.
