Keene State, NH -- The Ephs dominated the competition at the Keene State Invitational today, scoring just 19 points in sharp contrast to 117 points for second place (Keene State).
On the backdrop of falling yellow leaves and clear skies, the team glided through this fast course, securing a podium sweep. Williams first-year Kate Tuttle captured the victory, running a time of 17:55 in the 5k, with teammates Tamar Byl-Brann (17:59) and Kate Swann (18:00) earning the 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Nora Johnson (18:17) and Charlene Peng 18:18) rounded out William's top five, finishing within a second of each other. Astoundingly, in a field over 200 racers, the Ephs filled out seven out of the top ten spots, with Jordan Liss-Riordan and Lily Yampolsky finishing 8th and 9th respectively.
"It's exciting going into the mid-season and postseason having a good race under everyone's belts," Kate Tuttle enthused. All of WOW packed up really well and it was a really fun day."
"The women's race was really exciting because people really stepped up and a variety of folks had breakthrough races," said Eph head coach Dusty Lopez noted. "The strength of the pack and our depth was really on display and I'm proud of that. We would've liked to maybe have one or two other stronger teams or stronger individuals in the field, but doing what we could I still felt like it was a good prep for what we're going to see later."
The Ephs will next race on October 12th at Open New Englands.
