Game Recap
- After both teams failed to capitalize on power play opportunities, the Ephs jumped out to an early lead, courtesy of great link up play between first-year forward Skyler Moore and sophomore Isa Healey. Moore, with the puck in the offensive zone, dished it behind her to Healey, who fired a shot that beat the Owls' goaltender top right to put the Ephs up 1-0 (5:29).
- An interference penalty against the Owls put the Ephs on the power play for the second time on the day, and despite recording seven shots, were unable to get one to go in (9:31).
- The Ephs' offensive momentum continued, and relentless offensive pressure led to a holding penalty against the Owls, giving the home side another power play. Once again, the Ephs' offense excelled. Quinn Dawson fired shot near the blue line which was turned away, but Lucie Bond found herself in position for the rebound, and buried a shot to put the Ephs up 2-0 (16:25).
- As the period came to a close, Ellie French delivered the puck to Jaelyn Keiver, who buried the puck to give the Ephs a 3-0 lead entering the second period (18:25).
- As the Ephs found themselves in their offensive zone, senior defenseman Katie Armstrong fired a pass over to sophomore defenseman Celine Mayer at the midpoint—Meyer's wrist shot hit Keiver's stick, and the puck deflected into the net, giving Keiver her second goal and the Ephs a 4-0 advantage (7:36).
- Claire Murphy joined in on the scoring action as the second period came to a close—taking the puck from the neutral zone and into the offensive zone. The junior defenseman snapped a wrist shot that deflected off the goaltender's pads and into the net for a power play goal (17:23).
- Closing out the second period's scoring, first-year defenseman Merrill Delich delivered her first career goal to bring the lead up to 6-0 for the Ephs (18:05).
- The Ephs' offense opened the third period with a goal by Chloe Noxon, who rebounded Delich's shot attempt that was turned away by the Owls' Makenna Montgomery (4:20).
- After Healey won a face off for the Ephs in the attacking third, senior defenseman Maddie Zack found the puck, burying a goal to make the score 8-0 for the Ephs (8:44).
- It was Lucie Bond scoring the last goal of the game for the Ephs, putting the exclamation mark on a huge 9-0 victory (10:31).
After the game, Eph head coach , Meghan Gillis, remarked on the Ephs' last two massive victories, accounting their success to continued improvement with line chemistry and offensive zone systems. She was also pleased to see the Ephs' power play find success after it being a focal point of the week's practices. The nonprofit organization, Hockey in Harlem, also received commendation during the game.
Next up for the Ephs, they'll face off against Vermont State University Castleton at home on December 3rd at 6:30 PM.
