WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. -- The Williams College Ephs (8-12-2, 5-9-1 NESCAC) were defeated by their arch rival, the #4 Amherst College Mammoths (19-2-2, 11-2-2 NESCAC) by a score of 3-0 earlier this evening.

The Ephs picked up a tripping penalty about two minutes into the first period; however, the Ephs' penalty kill unit succeeded in stopping the Mammoths (1:44).

As the Mammoths came down in the offensive zone, Pye made an impressive save for the Ephs when Maeve Reynold took a wrist shot to the top right of the cage.

Rylee Glennon opened the scoring in this game around midway through the first period, when she got the puck in the crease and slipped it past Pye (9:59).

Maddie Zack found herself on a breakaway opportunity for the Ephs to tie the game up, but the Mammoths' Julia Weiss blocked the shot.

The Ephs picked up a penalty for tripping late in the first period. It proved inconsequential though, as the Ephs' penalty kill unit succeeded yet again (15:34).

The Mammoths had a chance on net, but Rylee Glennon's shot hit the pipe to keep the score at 1-0 (18:50).

Erin Pye made a series of consecutive saves to prevent the Mammoths from going up 2-0 as the 2nd period opened up.

Jaelyn Keiver was able to get a shot off on Weiss from the crease, but the Mammoths' goalie snatched the puck up.

The Mammoths improved their lead in the period to 2-0 when Maeve Reynolds skated from the neutral zone and into the offensive zone, and fired a wrist shot past Pye, 2-0 (0:48).

Alyssa Xu of the Mammoths ended the night's scoring, sealing a 3-0 win for Amherst.
After the game, Eph head coach Megan Gillis commented "I thought we had some really great moments tonight and some defensive lapses that Amherst was able to capitalize on. The PK was great and we are looking forward to bringing new offensive energy tomorrow."
