Game Recap

  • The Mammoths opened up the game with the momentum offensively. A shot seemed threatening until Pye slid into position and prevented the chance.

  • Williams picked up a penalty early into the first period and sent Amherst on their first power play. The Mammoths lived in their own offensive zone for the two minutes, but Pye and the Ephs' defense held strong and prevented the home side from scoring (17:18).

  • The next power play opportunity for the Mammoths was also stopped by the Ephs, with Pye making a number of impressive saves (8:50).

  • The Ephs struck first in today's contest, thanks to Lucie Bond who sailed a beautiful shot past Stott to put the Ephs up 1-0 (14:37).

  • The Mammoths tied the game up in the second period, with a goal scored by Maeve Reynolds and assisted by Mary Thompson (4:03).

  • The Ephs' first power play of the night was unsuccessful, despite Lucie Bond and Katie Armstrong getting good chances.

  • The Ephs sent the Mammoths on to the power play early in the third period, and Amherst capitalized quickly with the go-ahead goal credited to Anna Baxter (4:49).

  • With under two minutes left in the game and down by a goal, the Ephs subbed out Pye to get an extra attacker out on the ice. Rylee Glennon sealed the game with an empty net goal giving Amherst a 3-1 victory.

After the game, Eph head coach  Megan Gillis, stated, "I thought we played one of our better games in a while going up against a top ranked team in the nation and the top seed in our league. We had some good chances down the stretch after going down 2-1."
