Davenport, Fl - Henry Juan collected three hits in four at bats, as the Ephs (3-2) defeated the Lawrence University Vikings (8-4) 4-3 on Tuesday. Juan hit a solo home run to left field in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Williams added to Juan's homer in the first when James O'Connor tripled to deep left field in the fourth, making the score 2-0.
Lawrence tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a solo home run to right field and an RBI single by Taylor Freeman, and another single gave the Vikings the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Williams went back into the lead after Will Scott hit a sacrifice fly to left field and Ryan Nakajima worked a walk with the bases loaded, each scoring one run.
Issey Gestel earned the win for Ephs, entering in relief. He gave up three hits and one run over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Max Hart led things off on the bump. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
O'Connor collected the save, stranding two runners with a two strikeouts and a line out to center. Teddy Massingham and JP Wong each threw shutout innings for Williams College Ephs in relief.
Williams tallied nine hits in the game. Scott, O'Connor, and Juan each drove in one run. Mike Giove collected two hits. Nakajima, Brendan Stannard, and O'Connor led the team with two walks each.
The Ephs will next play SUNY Maritime in a doubleheader on Thursday in Davenport, FL.
