Davenport, Fl - The Ephs (4-3) split a doubleheader against the Privateers (8-3) on Thursday, losing the first game 10-8 and rebounding in the second game with a 9-2 win.
The first game was a bit of a slugfest, with SUNY Maritime collecting 14 hits while Williams had 15. Henry Juan shined, notching three hits in five at bats. Juan singled in the fourth inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the first inning.
Michael Amendola took the loss for the Ephs. The lefty went four innings, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits, striking out two and walking two. James Murray also pitched.
Williams tallied 15 hits in the game. Brendan Stannard and Juan were a force together at the top of the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Stannard singled past the shortstop, doubled to left center, and tripled to deep right field. Will Scott also collected two hits in five at bats.
The Ephs' offense stayed hot into the second game, culminating in a six-run seventh inning. Will Scott singled, scoring two runs, Mike Giove hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring one run, Sasha Palma singled, scoring one run, and Ryan Nakajima doubled past a diving right fielder, scoring two runs.
Williams jumped out to the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Kedar Veeraswamy doubled, scoring two runs, and Giove singled, adding another.
Jake Jeffries earned the win for Williams. The righty allowed three hits and two runs in a complete game, striking out four and walking three.
Williams got 13 hits in the game. James O'Connor had three hits in four at bats, and Giove, Veeraswamy, Scott, and Nakajima each drove in two runs for Williams. Palma and Henry Juan each reached base multiple times, and the Ephs were sure-handed in the field, as they didn't commit a single error. O'Connor had the most chances in the field with five, converting all.
Next up for Williams College Ephs is a game against DePauw University on Sunday.
