Williamstown, MA- In a rivalry match up between Williams College and Amherst College, Amherst took a commanding victory over Williams with a final score of 14-6.
Amherst quickly set the tone, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Ryan McIntyre doubled to right field  bringing in Jack McDermott for the first Amherst run. Jack Sampedro continued the momentum with another double to right center, scoring McIntyre. Luke Padian's double then plated Sampedro, capping off a strong start for Amherst.
Amherst extended their lead to 7-0 in the second inning. McDermott tripled to right center, knocking in two unearned runs. The inning continued with Jack Dove's sacrifice fly, which allowed McDermott to score. Sampedro then hit a single to center field, bringing in McIntyre.
Williams got on the board when Mike Giove hit a solo home run to right center, but Amherst responded with a run, establishing a six run lead 7-1.
Amherst's offensive prowess was on full display with Jack Dove hitting a triple to bring in McIntyre. Sampedro added another run with a single, extending Amherst's lead to 9-1.
Williams tried to rally back in the sixth, with Ryan Nakajima tripling down the right-field line to bring in Owen McHugh. However, Amherst countered in their half, with Christian Fagnant's double increasing the lead to 13-3.
Williams continued to find gaps in Amherst's defense, as Andrew Rocha singled to second base, scoring both Owen McHugh and Marcus Burrell, making the score 13-6.
 Fagnant sealed the game for Amherst with a solo home run to right field, bringing the final tally to 14-6.
Williams will close out the 2024 season tomorrow with a doubleheader at Amherst. The first pitch will be thrown at noon.
