The Short Story:
The Ephs defeated Framingham State in game three of the NCAA Regional Tournament in Bangor, ME. Katie Blanch and Elyse Chan both had strong performances on the mound, keeping Framingham at bay throughout the entire game. The Ephs got off to a hot start offensively, when Sydney Fleming crushed her ninth home run of the season, a 2 RBI hit that also allowed Alysa DeQuiroz to score. Williams tacked on two more runs in the second inning, scored by Katie Blanch and Kayla Chang. After Framingham's lone run in the third inning, the Ephs responded with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Their 6-1 win allowed the Ephs to advance to Game 6 of the NCAA Regional tournament on Saturday, May 18th at 11 a.m., where they will face the winner of Game 5 between Framingham State and Husson. To advance to the next round of the NCAA tournament, the Ephs must win at least one of the two games scheduled for that day to advance.

How it Happened

Katie Blanch pitched the first six innings for the Ephs, allowing only one run and striking out 7 batters.

Elyse Chan came in to relieve Blanch in the final inning, preventing Framingham from scoring to secure the win for the Ephs.

In the first inning, Sydney Fleming hit her 9th home run of the season. Allowing herself and Alysa DeQuiroz, who had reached base on a single up the middle, to score the first two runs for the Ephs.

The Ephs continued to score in the second inning, when Katie Blanch hit a single to center field and Kayla Chang hit a single to the catcher. Both players ended up reaching home on an errant throw, making the score 4-0.

After a series of singles, Framingham was able to score their sole run at the top of the third inning.

Ronni Ramos scored the fifth run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ramos reached first on a hit by pitch and a double by Katie Blanch drove Ramos home.

The final run of the game also came in the bottom of the fourth, when Tayler Wise singled up the middle, allowing Kayla Chang who had reached base on a single to the pitcher to score.
