The Short Story:
The Ephs secured a 4-0 victory over Husson University, clinching the NCAA Regional Championship. Their win today, sends them to the NCAA Super-Regionals for the first time since 2019. Sadie Leonard dominated in the circle throughout the entire game, shutting out the Eagles while striking out 10 batters over 7 innings. Leonard was also able to navigate some challenging positions thanks to the strong defensive play behind them. On offense, Ronni Ramos delivered clutch hits throughout the game, including an RBI single scoring Kelly McGuigan in the 4th and a three-run homer over the left field wall in the 6th inning, turning a 1-0 lead into a 4-0 cushion. Kelly McGuigan also had a stellar day at the plate, sparking the Ephs' offense. She went 2-for-3 with a double, a single, and two runs scored.
Coach's Take:
"We're feeling great. It was a complete game of softball this weekend. Our pitching and defense gave up one run and that alone made us tough to beat. The offense was also right there and took advantage of the mentality that it's never over." - Eph head coach Kris Herman
