Ephs finish T10 After Day One of the Duke Nelson Invitational

Middlebury, VT -- The Williams Men's golf team battled back from a bad start to finish T10 after day one of the Duke Nelson invitational, hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

Leading the way for the Ephs in his first ever event was first-year Hunter Justice. Justice was solid all day on a difficult day at the Ralph, finishing at 3-over par 74. Next for the Ephs was sophomore Alex Moller. Moller picked up on his outstanding first year with a 4-over par 75 in his first outing of the 2024 fall season.

Following Moller was senior captain Phillip Clifton, finishing at 7-over par 78. Rounding out the scoring for the Ephs was sophomore Owen Nielsen. Nielsen played an excellent back nine, fighting back from a tough start at the Ralph. He finished at 10-over par 81 to bring the Ephs score to 24-over par in total, 10 shots back of the lead.

Eph head coach Josh Hillman spoke on the performance of the team today: "Overall we hit the ball well and putted well, but we just didn't get the bounces we needed to post a good number. With two first years seeing the Ralph Myhre for the first time, I feel we did well.  It's a tricky course and even with good prep it's hard to explain how to play it. I'm proud of the guys today, no one gave up and everyone gave 110% percent."

The Ephs will be back in action again for round two tomorrow for a 9 AMshotgun start at the Ralph.
