Ephs Beat Diplomats 9-0 in First Match of 2025

LANCASTER, PA – In the first weekend of squash in 2025, the Ephs had an early morning getting on the bus to drive down to Lancaster, PA to face Franklin & Marshall in the first of three matches this weekend.

Using a 5-court system, Melanie Wang (#1), Rachel Miller (#4), Rhea Pandit (#5), Amanda Solecki (#7), and Nora Brant (#9) took to the courts first. Wang faced a strong opponent, and after dropping the first game, won the second in a hard-fought 12-10. Wang went on to win the next two games playing smart, consistent squash to close out the game. At the same time, Miller, Pandit, Solecki, and Brant beat their opponents in a quick three games.

On second were Sophia Koehler (#2), Christina Yen (#3), Theresa Kay (#6), and Jefferson-Sambanis (#8). In her first ever college match, Christina Yen played diligent and accurate squash to reach a quick finish. At the same time, Koehler, Kay, and Jefferson-Sambanis made quick work of their opponents. 

Overall, it was a successful first day back for the Ephs as they begin the second part of the season. Eph head coach Hesham Aly commented after the match, "I'm proud of how the team played today. It was a good warm-up for the rest of the weekend, in which we are looking forward to some good matches".

The Ephs face Dickinson tomorrow at 12pm, before facing Georgetown on Sunday, playing on the U.S. Naval Academy courts.
