Ephs Down Dickinson Devils 7-2

CARLISLE, PA – In the second match of the weekend, the Ephs faced #21 ranked Dickinson. After a win over Franklin & Marshall yesterday, the Ephs showed up today with fresh legs to gain a 7-2 win over Dickinson. Williams is now 7-0 vs. Dickinson all-time.

First on court were Melanie Wang, Rachel Miller, Rhea Pandit, and Amanda Solecki; Dickinson defaulted the #9 spot, as they only had eight players. Wang faced a tough opponent and fell in three hard-fought games. At the same time, Miller faced a battle of her own. Showing resilience to come back from 10-6 down in the first game, Miller took the first two games. Ultimately, following long points and a strong showing from her opponent, Miller lost in five games. At the same time, Pandit and Solecki played diligent squash to defeat their opponents.

Next on court were Sophia Koehler, Christina Yen, Theresa Kay, and Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis. Koehler faced a strong opponent, but through smart squash clinched the first two games. Koehler dropped the next two games, but came back strong in the fifth to close it out. Simultaneously, Yen, Kay, and Jefferson-Sambanis posted two more points on the board after 3-game wins over their opponents.

Eph head coach Hesham Aly commented after the match, "I'm proud of how the team played today. Following lots of travel we saw fresh legs on the court which is good heading into our match against Georgetown". The Ephs face #13 ranked Georgetown in one of the most important matches of the season tomorrow - they will take ton Georgetown on the U.S. Naval Academy courts at 10am.
