Ephs Beat #18 Ranked Bowdoin Bears 6-3

BRUNSWICK, MA – Today, the Ephs faced #18 ranked Bowdoin at the Polar Bears home courts in the last of a three day match weekend in Maine. The Ephs had a strong showing, ultimately beating the Polar Bears 6-3.

Sophia Koehler put the first point on the board for the Ephs, battling to keep the match 3 games, with a 14-12 finish in the third. At the same time, Captains Nora Brant and Amanda Solecki each fell in close games to their Bowdoin opponents.

Next on court, Melanie Wang had a convincing 3-0 finish over her opponent by playing accurate squash and hunting the volley. Rhea Pandit and Anika Kakarla had similar strong three game finishes, with the second round of matches posting three more points on the board for the Ephs.

Last on court, Christina Yen finished strong after dropping a game, and Theresa Kay closed her match in three games. Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis went to five close games with her opponent, but ultimately lost the match.

After the match, Eph head coach Hesham Aly commented, "Today was a wake-up call for the team, and I'm glad it happened ahead of our Middlebury match. Everyone needs to show up 100% on Wednesday, and I think the team is ready to do that".

The Ephs, ranked #15, face #16 ranked Middlebury on Wednesday at 4:00 PM in The Simon Squash Center at Williams.
