WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College men's soccer team dominated the match but ended up on the wrong side of a 1-0 result against Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Cole Field.
A goal in the 16th minute was enough for the visitors to take home the win, which broke the Ephs' 10-game unbeaten streak to start the season.
Williams had a pair of early chances, with both Alex Bethencourt and Henry Kirkman forcing saves out of the Cardinals' goalkeeper in the 11th minute before Wesleyan took the lead. The rest of the half was relatively even, as the Ephs held a 6-5 advantage in shots in the first session.
After the half, the Ephs had nearly all the chances, outshooting the visitors 11-2, but could not break through a tough Wesleyan defense. Williams finished the day with 17 shots, 7 on goal, compared to 7 and 3 for Wesleyan. Aleix Anglada had two saves in goal for Williams.
Williams will turn the page tomorrow, hosting Western Connecticut State with a 1:30pm kickoff on Cole Field.
