Women's Soccer Falls to No.11 MIT

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass – The Williams College women's soccer team battled hard but came up just short against No. 11 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, falling 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the result, the Ephs move to 7-2-3 overall and 5-1-2 in NESCAC play.

MIT struck early, capitalizing in the 20th minute when Natalie Barnouw found the back of the net for what would stand as the game's lone goal. Despite the early setback, the Ephs' defense held the Engineers scoreless for the remaining 70 minutes of play.

Williams created several strong chances throughout the match, finishing with 12 total shots and an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal. First-year forward Maya Lloyd led the attack with three shots on goal in the opening half, while Ansley Burns, Emmy Chung, and Elizabeth Stophel each forced saves in the closing minutes looking to tie the game up.

Goalkeeper Margaret Huelin continued her consistent play between the posts, making four saves to keep Williams within striking distance.

The Ephs will have a week off from competition before traveling to Alumni Field on Tuesday, October 21, to face Westfield State University.
