NEWA Release
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - After going a perfect 4-0 and winning his fourth career Doug Parker Invitational title, senior captain
Peter Kane of the No. 24-ranked Williams College wrestling team was named New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
"The Doug Parker is a significant event and winning it four times is a significant accomplishment," said head coach
Scott Honecker. "It is brilliant to watch. He is always so eager to keep improving, while remaining so consistently excellent. Navigating a tournament this successfully will be good practice for the postseason where Peter's highest goals remain."
Kane, who is ranked No. 1 in the NEWA rankings at 157 pounds, defeated No. 3 Jacob Woodburn of Coast Guard in a 14-5 major decision during the final round Saturday in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Fairfield, Connecticut, native earned All-American status in three straight years at the NCAA Division III Championship from 2023-25 and is currently ranked third at 157 pounds among all Division III student-athletes in the country.
He is 8-1 on the season and is attempting to be the second-ever Williams' wrestler to garner All-American honors four times. Kane is also looking to become the first Eph to hoist a national championship in wrestling.
The Ephs will compete in the RIT Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 9 a.m. in Rochester, New York.
