KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After finishing with six goals, nine assists, 21 points and three game-winning goals for the Williams College women's soccer team, sophomore
Elizabeth Stophel garnered United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-American Fourth Team laurels Thursday afternoon.
Stophel helped power the Ephs (13-2-5, 7-1-2 NESCAC) to the NESCAC Championship and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She ranked in a tie for first in the conference in assists (9), fifth in points and game-winning tallies and eighth in goals. The Chattanooga, Tennessee, native was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region I First Team and collected NESCAC All-Conference First Team laurels.
Stophel finished with a goal and an assist, including the game-winner during the 71st minute, in a 2-1 victory over Middlebury during the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament on Nov. 8 in Medford, Massachusetts. She assisted on the game-winning goal in the 48th minute, and then scored an insurance goal with eight seconds remaining during a 2-0 triumph over Trinity on Sept. 20 at Cole Field. Stophel assisted on both goals in a 2-1 win against visiting Bowdoin on Sept. 28.
