HADLEY, Mass. - After recording four first-place efforts with her relay teams and a trio of first-place finishes in individual-oriented events, first-year
Sophie Phelps of the Williams College women's swimming & diving team was named NESCACÂ Performer of the Week Tuesday morning for the first time in her collegiate career.
"Sophie has settled in very well," said head coach
Steve Kuster. "Her great approach to racing and consistent hard work at practice are reflected in this weekend's results. We are looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings."
Phelps took home first-place laurels in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.32), 200 freestyle (1:50.37) and 100 freestyle (51.19). The Nantucket, Massachusetts, native also worked with her relay team to earn first-place honors in the 200 freestyle (1:34.65), 200 medley (1:43.80), 400 freestyle (3:29.51) and 400 medley (3:45.94), finishing her portion of the events in times of 22.79, 22.96, 51.18 and 50.30, respectively.
The Ephs will host Amherst on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. in Samuelson-Muir Pool.
