Middlebury, VT – Coming off a win in a shootout last night, the Williams College Ephs (8-10-3) made the trip north to play in a rematch against the Middlebury College Panthers (11-10-1).
This game remained low scoring, similarly to last night, and that came down to
Cal Sandquist standing tall between the pipes for Williams. The senior has been having a phenomenal season and has been crucial in helping Williams earn their victories. The Williams penalty kill has also been a pillar in the team's game, and they remained in strong form tonight.
The third period was the strongest for Williams, and the last 15 minutes of play demonstrated what they were capable of. Despite being down by 2, there was no quit anywhere on the Ephs bench. There were shots coming from all around the offensive zone, and with the goalie pulled and the extra attacker on the ice, Williams looked like they may bring this one back. Unfortunately the deficit was too steep and the Panther's won this game by a score of 2-0.
Eph head coach
Bill Kangas had this to say after the game, "Another battle tonight in the second game of our home and home series with Middlebury. Both teams competed hard, but Middlebury was able to capitalize on their chances and we did not. I liked how we played the final 12 minutes, however, we know we need to create that energy and determination earlier and sustain it longer. While it was good to get two points on the weekend, we are confident that our experience from this weekend will help focus us for an outstanding week of practice as we prepare for our final league home series versus Hamilton and Amherst."
