WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - After averaging 26.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals, while shooting a combined 20 of 39 from the field (51.3%), in two games this past week, senior captain Arianna Gerig of the Williams College women's basketball team was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Second Team of the Week Tuesday.

"Arianna had strong performances in each of our games this weekend," said head coach Pat Manning. "What I was most happy about was her strong defense and rebounding efforts. She had an attacking mindset on both ends of the court."

Gerig has earned NEWBA First Team of the Week honors twice during the 2024-25 season, while also being named to the Second Team on two occasions. On Jan. 6, the outstanding student-athlete garnered NESCAC Player of the Week recognition. She currently has 1,489 career points, which are the third most in program history.

"I am happy to be named to the NEWBA Second Team this week," said Gerig. "As a team, we made a lot of good strides this weekend and had a lot of student-athletes step up and impact the game. I am excited for the final stretch of conference play and to see the noise this team can make."

During a 73-65 win at University of Saint Joseph Sunday afternoon in West Hartford, Connecticut, Gerig recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds. She filled up the box score with five assists, three blocks and one steal, while shooting an efficient 55.0% from the field (11 for 20) for the Ephs (12-8, 2-4 NESCAC). The Westport, Connecticut, native tallied 26 points, nine boards, four assists, three steals and one block at Bates Friday evening in Lewiston, Maine.

Gerig has scored in double figures on 17 occasions this season, including finishing with 20 points or more nine times. She has corralled double-digit rebounds in seven games. She leads the team in points (17.8), rebounds (8.5), assists (3.6) and steals (2.2) per game, while ranking second in blocks (1.2). The fourth-year collegiate student-athlete ranks third in the NESCAC in points, third in steals, fourth in assists, sixth in rebounds and ninth in blocks per game.

Williams has four remaining NESCAC games, as the Ephs travel to Colby Friday for a 7 p.m. tipoff in Waterville, Maine, and then make the journey to Bowdoin for a 3 p.m. start Saturday in Brunswick, Maine. The final regular-season weekend will be at Chandler Gymnasium, with a 7 p.m. game against Hamilton on Feb. 14 and a 3 p.m. showdown against Amherst on Feb. 15.
