HARTFORD, CT— This weekend, the Williams Men's Squash Team traveled down to Hartford, CT to the home of the Trinity Bantams for the 2025 NESCAC Championships. The Ephs beat #22 ranked Bowdoin 8-1 in the quarterfinals and then lost to #12 Tufts Jumbos 5-4 in the semifinals. It was a hard fought weekend, with Eph head coach
Hesham Aly saying, "Not the outcome that we wanted, but we still have a lot of season left."
The team won handily against Bowdoin on Saturday, only dropping four games.
Starting off the first round of matches against Tufts on Sunday was sophomore Nick Agger who unfortunately lost in four. First-year Ty Green learned from his last match, winning easily in three. Fellow first-year Himanshu Pannu gave it his all through an injury to break down his opponent in an exciting five game finish.
Next up was co-captain Jack Lee, who put in one of his best performances of the season to win 3-1. Will Newton and Rafay Syed both lost in a tight three games.
Closing it out for the Ephs, was Andrew Minnis in the #1 spot who had his chances but ultimately lost 3-0. Junior Asher Leavy lost in a super close four games. And finally, Alex Akbari won his match after his opponent had to retire due to injury.
The Ephs look to shake off the tough loss and regroup before the big match against #11 ranked Dartmouth Saturday at 2 PM in The Simon Squash Cours.
