#2 Ranked Trinity Bantams Down Ephs 9-0 in NESCAC Semifinals

HARTFORD, CT – In the semifinals of the NESCAC Championship Tournament, the #4 Ephs faced the #1 seeded Trinity Bantams. Heading into the match the Ephs knew it would be a challenging one, as Trinity is ranked #2 overall in collegiate squash. Ultimately, the Ephs fell 9-0 to Trinity.

First on court were Christina Yen, Naomi Jefferson-Sambanis, and Anika Kakarla. Playing on the glass court, Yen faced a strong opponent and fell in three hard-fought games. Jefferson-Sambanis also fell in three games, overwhelmed by her Bantam opponent. Kakarla had a strong showing, playing phenomenal squash, but also lost in straight games.

Next on court was Rhea Pandit, who lost in three intense games. Amanda Solecki and Nora Brant played smart squash moving their opponents around the court, but ultimately also fell in straight games.

Last on court were Melanie Wang, Rachel Miller, and Catherine Li. All three underclassmen played strong squash but were ultimately overcome by their strong competitors. Last on court, playing the #10 spot, Roshni Pal managed to clinch her match in three decisive games against her Bantam opponent.

After the match Eph head coach Hesham Aly commented, "Today was a tough match, as expected because Trinity is a very strong team. We had a tough seeding this weekend, but are looking forward to some close matches next weekend."

Next weekend the Ephs will face Dartmouth in the last home match of the season on Saturday and travel to play Wesleyan on Sunday.
