GREENSBORO, NC — After another successful season and winning the 2025 Men's NESCAC Championship, the Ephmen are back at Greensboro Aquatic Center at the NCAA Division 3 Championships. The Ephmen kicked off the meet on day 1 featuring the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, and 400 medley relay, and 3 meter diving.
The evening finals session started off with the 500 freestyle.
Carter Anderson was the sole Ephman in the consolation final. With a strong back half, Anderson finished 10th in a 4:25.34. Next was
Ryan Nunez in the championship final of the event. Coming off a his NESCAC record in the event and being seeded sixth, Nunez went out with the pack. With a strong back half as well, Nunez touched in a stunning second place finish with a time of 4:24.40.
Oliver Schalet was the sole Ephman in the championship final of the 200 individual medley. He had a strong swim and a stellar freestyle leg to finish 8th in a 1:48.01. Colin Kavanaugh swam his debut NCAA swim finishing 42nd in the morning with a time of 1:55.69.
In the morning session,
Barrett Heritage placed 31st in a 20.46 in the 50 freestyle. Also in the morning session, the Williams A 400 medley relay competed in the preliminary heats.
Charlie Venci swam the backstroke leg in a 50.17 followed by
Michael Grover for the breaststroke leg in a 54.42. Coming off the 50 freestyle,
Barrett Heritage went a 48.75 in the butterfly leg.
Oliver Schalet closed it out in the freestyle leg in a 44.57. They finished 20th in a 3:17.91.
During the diving session,
Haochen Liu and
Calder Biondi competed in the 3 meter competition. Liu started off strong with strong voluntary dives. Reverse dive straight (301A) was Liu's highest scoring voluntary dive with a score of 42.00 points. Liu's highest scoring optional dive was Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck (205C) with a score of 43.40. Liu finished 19th with a score of 4:10.90. Biondi had stellar optional dives. He scored 55.50 points on his Forward 2 1/2 Somersault 1 Twist Pike (5152B) and 49.60 points on his Forward 3 1/2 Somersault Pike (107B). Biondi finished 18th in the field. The diving duo will be back in competition on Friday for the 1 meter boards.
The Ephmen closed out a great night of swimming and diving sitting third in the team standings. Competition continues tomorrow at 10am with the 200 freestyle relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, and 200 freestyle.
