Ephs Sweep Occidental

Strong Pitching and A Show of Power Lead the Way

Scores:

Williams 10, Occidental 1

Williams 8, Occidental 1

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Records: Williams 5-1; Occidental 6-18

The Short Story:

The Ephs first day in California was a good one as they parlayed nineteen hits, including five home runs, into eighteen runs, giving up just one earned run in a sweep of the Occidental Tigers in Los Angeles.  Senior captain Sydney Fleming had three home runs in the two games and first-year Dani Jackman hit her first, and second, homers of the year to lead the power show.  All four Williams pitchers were strong in the circle, allowing just one run in each game.

Coach's Take:

"It was a great way to start our trip.  We got significant on-field contributions from every player and were able to showcase all four of our healthy pitchers in two strong wins.  The home runs are always fun -- and they were all no-doubters today -- yet let's not overlook the great defense and strong pitching.  When we get all aspects of the game firing it's especially fun and we look forward to getting back at in on Tuesday against a very strong Redlands team." - Eph head coach Kris Herman
