Williams 5, Redlands 1

Redlands 5, Williams 2

Location:  Redlands, CA

Records: Williams 6-2; Redlands 19-4

The Short Story:

The teams totaled thirty-three hits and at the same time the pitching and defense was strong as two top fifteen teams squared off in Southern California on Tuesday.  Sadie Leonard '26 and Katie Blanch '27 both pitched well for Williams, scattering hits throughout their respective games.  In game one the Bulldogs scored first and the Ephs answered with two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to pull away for the win. Redlands scored first in game two as well and the Ephs were unable to match the score, leaving seven on base in the game.

Coach's Take:

Eph head coach Kris Herman was impressed with the team's effort on both sides of the ball.  "Despite the losing score in game two we had lots of bright spots up and down the roster.  We had eighteen hits and our defense was good, with room to be even better. We learned a lot today and look forward to getting back at it tomorrow."

Game 1

How it Happened

  • Redlands struck first, pushing one run across in the second inning.

  • The Ephs answered in the 4th with back to back hits by sophomores Katie Blanch and Justine Dunaway and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Aprill Medrano '28.

  • The next inning the Ephs tacked on three runs on three hits.

  • Sadie Leonard struck out ten and walked none, scattering just five hits.

  • Katie Blanch and Lauren Davis '28 had two hits each.

  • Redlands got a one out triple in the 6th but was unable to score as Leonard shut down the rally.

Game 2

How it Happened

  • Redlands scored two runs in the second inning and never looked back.

  • In the 4th inning Williams pushed one across after a Blanch double and two productive outfield fly balls, one being another sac fly for Medrano.

  • Blanch, Alysa DeQuiroz '26 and Kayla Chang '25 had multiple hits in the game.

  • Justine Dunaway '27, Katie Blanch and Aleks Albert '28 combined for the defensive play of the day, cutting down a run at the plate in the 6th.
