The Short Story:
The Ephs endured their fourth split of the season -- winning the first game and losing the second -- with a tough loss in game two today in Whittier, California. Sadie Leonard struck out ten and gave up just two hits in game one to earn the win. Sydney Fleming hit two home runs to drive in four and first-year Aprill Medrano hit her first collegiate home run driving in three with a bomb to straightaway center field. The flawless defense the Ephs played in game one did not carry over into the nightcap as Williams gave up five runs in the bottom of the sixth and found themselves on the losing end of an exciting game. Fleming hit another home run in the game and the Ephs had eleven hits.
Coach's Take:
"There were a lot of highlights today, even some that might not have looked like highlights. We're playing a lot of good softball overall but everything matters and we weren't able to put it all together this afternoon. We had twenty hits and many more that were right at people, and just had some bad bounces in the end. We'll be back tomorrow and excited to complete our trip with four more games against strong teams," said Coach Herman
