Men's Squash Falls to Dartmouth and Beats Tufts to End the 2025 Season Ranked 11th in the Country

Philadelphia, PA— Friday and Saturday, the Williams Men's Squash Team played their last two matches at the 2025 CSA National Collegiate Team Championships. The #10 ranked Ephs suffered a heartbreaking 7-2 loss to the #10 ranked Dartmouth Big Green on Friday in their bid for a top 10 spot. But recovered well on Saturday to beat the #12 ranked Tufts Jumbos 5-4. "Although we were a little disappointed about Dartmouth, the team regrouped and came out hungry to end the season on a high note with a commanding victory against Tufts," said Eph head coach Hesham Aly.

Starting with the Dartmouth match, it began evenly when Jack Lee continued his stellar play, clinically beating his opponent 3-0. Unfortunately, Alex Akbari lost in a tight three. Pierce Henderson had his opportunities but fell in four games. Ty Green was unable to stop a late push from his opponent to lose in a very close five games. Andrew Minnis also lost a close three game match. In a last grasp attempt to shift the match's momentum, Himu Pannu snatched a taxing four game win. Unfortunately, Nick Agger lost his decider rematch against Mac Aube.

The rest of the matches were wrapped up in three games.

On Saturday, the Ephs concluded their season with a triumphant victory over the Jumbos at nationals. In the final match of the year, the Williams Men's Team leaped to a convincing 5-1 wint, sealed by Junior Alex Akbari, to end their 2024-25 campaign with a historic finish of #11 in the country.

The highlights of the match undoubtedly came from seniors Pierce Henderson and Andrew Minnis. In their final matches as Ephs, they both unveiled displays of grit and mental fortitude. Henderson snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by clinching the match despite being two games down. Minnis outlasted his opponent in a mesmerizing four game triumph, exacting his revenge from their last match at NESCACs. First years Will Newton and Himanshu Pannu also overcame tough opponents in four games, ending their debut seasons on wins over familiar opponents. Junior Alex Akbari delivered the final blow, a Tufts Jumbo in a confident and impassioned four game victory.

Elsewhere, Nick Agger lost his match in three games and the rest of the matches were played out as formalities.

It was an incredible season for the Ephs, with many thrilling 5-4 victories and the best finish for the program since 2013.
