Ballston Spa, NY — The Williams men's golf team sits in eighth place after day one of competition at the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore College at the Ballston Spa Country Club.
Leading the way for the Ephs today was first year
Hunter Justice, carding a 1-over par 72 in wet conditions. Justice was solid all day with two birdies and three bogeys en route to his low round of the day for the Ephs.
Following Justice for the Ephs were fellow first-year
Jack Estrella and senior
Ben Sapovits, both coming in with a score of 3-over par 74. Sub 45 degree temperatures made the course especially difficult all day long but the Ephs did a good job making back lost shots despite the difficult conditions.
Rounding out the scoring for the Ephs was sophomore
Alex Moller, coming in with a solid round of 5-over par 76.
Eph head coach
Josh Hillman spoke on the first round of the weekend: "I'm proud of the guys for showing a lot of resilience today despite the hard early April conditions. We were really solid today. The first years continue to improve and gain confidence out here which is always great to see. We're looking forward to the opportunity to move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
The Ephs will be back in action tomorrow morning for round two of the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational.
