Nielsen was four over par on the front nine but steadied the ship on the back, shooting 1-over par on the side to finish at 5-over.
Eph head coach
Josh Hillman commented on the showing from the Ephs: "I'm proud of how we fought back today. Nobody got off to a great start but we hung in through the middle and end portions of the round to post some good numbers. We had a lot of birdies today which is really encouraging, we just need to do a better job limiting mistakes and make some more pars. Our first-years keep getting better and better as they get more events under their belts which is great to see. We're looking forward to making an effort to move up the leader board tomorrow and hopefully get a win."
The Ephs are back in action tomorrow at 11am for round two of the Berkshire Invitational at Waubeeka Golf Links.
