Middletown, CT – The Williams Women's Track and Field team delivered an outstanding performance this weekend at Wesleyan University, capturing the NESCAC Outdoor Championship title. The Ephs showcased remarkable depth, setting personal bests, breaking school records, and winning multiple event titles in both track and field events.
The Ephs set the tone early with dominance in the field events. In the shot put, Maria Fareti '28 claimed the NESCAC title with a throw of 12.41 meters, while later securing another victory in the hammer throw, launching a personal best of 49.02 meters. Teammate Chloe Schneeberg '25 also impressed, throwing a personal record of 46.09 meters to finish third.
In the long jump, Kelsey Tarby '27 jumped a distance of 5.47 meters, finishing fifth, with Mireya King '28 close behind in twelfth at 5.12 meters. King also placed sixth in the triple jump with a strong mark of 10.99 meters.
In the pole vault, the Ephs stacked points, led by Ellie Fitzgerald '26, who finished second after clearing 3.75 meters. Poppy Miller '25 placed fourth (3.65 meters), and Jae Yu '25 finished fifth (3.55 meters).
In the high jump, Amelie Jamanka '26 was crowned NESCAC champion with a personal best clearance of 1.68 meters, while Aurora Lewis '28 secured ninth at 1.56 meters. In the discus, Fareti continued her busy weekend, placing seventh with a throw of 33.92 meters.
On the track, the Ephs maintained their dominance. In the 10,000 meters, Julia Brennan '27 finished second in 36:55.33, while Fiona Picone '26 came sixth in 37:21.26. In the 100m hurdles, Olivia LaBelle '28 advanced to the finals, where she clocked a personal best of 15.43 seconds to place seventh. Ziann Facey '27 (15.88) and Vivian Knoles '27 (18.00) added depth in the prelims.
In the 100 meters, Malia Klein '25 advanced to finals after placing sixth in prelims (12.50) and finished eighth overall in 12.60. Ella Sukup '26 (9th in 12.71) and Maggie Nichols '28 (19th in 13.01) also contributed strong performances.
The 4x100m relay team of Klein, Bella King-Harvey '27, Cate Donaldson '27, and Sukup placed fourth, running 47.39 seconds.
In the 3000m steeplechase, Charlene Peng '26 clocked a massive personal best of 10:47.49 to finish third. Ella Kirkwood '28 (8th, 11:20.20) and Clara Gahm '28 (11:25.41) also ran personal bests. The 1500m featured a big group of personal records. Lily Yampolsky '28 finished second in 4:33.96, while Nora Johnson '25 (4th, 4:36.24 PR), Jordan Liss-Riordan '28 (9th, 4:40.32 PR), and Sophie Rosencrans '25 (15th, 4:52.76) all delivered strong races.
In the 400 meters, Bella King-Harvey '27 claimed third place with a time of 56.33 seconds, with Cate Donaldson '27 following in fifth (57.25, season best) and Claire Jensen '27 in eighth (58.11, PR). Daisy Valle '25 also set a season best (22nd, 1:03.32). In the 400 metre hurdles, Greta Vaughn finished in 8th place with a time of 1:07.02 and a big personal record.
The 800 meters brought a historic moment for the Ephs by Annika Paluska'28: a second-place finish in 2:10.30 set not only a new personal best but also a new school record!
In the 200 meters, Rachel Arthur '25 raced to a NESCAC title, winning in 24.95 seconds. King-Harvey (6th, 25.48), Sukup (8th, 25.59), Donaldson (11th, 26.00), and Klein (15th, 26.14) followed with strong performances.
In the 5000 meters, Morgan Eigel '27 finished fifth in a new personal best of 17:03.39, while Tamar Byl-Brann '27 (9th, 17:22.07 SB), Nora Johnson '25 (12th, 17:33.35 PR), and Jordan Liss-Riordan '27 (15th, 17:42.75) completed a deep distance showing.
Relays capped off the meet with impressive runs. The 4x400m relay of King-Harvey, Donaldson, Jensen, and Annika Paluska '28 finished third in 3:48.13. The 4x800m relay of Yampolsky, Peng, Gahm, and Grace Kaercher '25 clocked a season-best 9:23.34, finishing fourth.
With a wave of personal records, school records, and event titles, the Ephs powered their way to a thrilling NESCAC Championship victory. The Ephs will next be competing at the FIRE meet at home on the 9th and 10th of May.
