HADLEY, Mass. - After factoring into all five TDs during a 38-0 home-opening victory for the William College football team Saturday afternoon against Colby on Farley-Lamb Field, junior quarterback
Owen Johansen was named NESCAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon.
"Owen had a great day," said head coach
Mark Raymond. "He provided us with some big-game spark in addition to efficiently running our offense."
Johansen rushed 11 times for 223 yards and three TDs, while also going 10-of-17 passing for 101 yards and two TDs, for the Ephs (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC). The Northport, New York, native opened the scoring with 9:10 remaining in the first quarter, as he embarked on a 71-yard TD run, finding the seam up the middle, and then breaking free into the open field on the left side. This marks the first time Johansen has been recognized by the NESCAC with a weekly honor.
Johansen made a strong season debut in a 24-17 triumph at Hamilton on Sept. 13, rushing 11 times for 84 yards, while finishing 5 for 8 in the passing game for 51 yards. He was outstanding during the Ephs' finale in 2024, rushing for two TDs and helping the unit secure a winning season at 5-4 with a 21-0 triumph against visiting Amherst.
The Ephs remain at Farley-Lamb Field in Williamstown, Massachusetts, for a 1:30 p.m. NESCAC game against Trinity Saturday.
