WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College women's golf team captured third place at the team's home tournament, the Williams Invite, held at Taconic Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
Petra Yee and Natalie Cheong both put together strong tournaments for the Ephs, both shooting 4-over-par on the second day, with Yee finishing at +4 on the weekend, good for the third place individual spot overall. Cheong had a score of +7 over the two rounds, finishing as the 8th place individual, climbing five spots on Sunday.
Euna Lee was the 15th individual, also climbing five spots on Sunday, and Emma Abramson and Michelle Ding also contributed to the team's final placement.Â
"Our players put in good effort this weekend, and it got us to third place," said Head Coach Tomas Adalsteinsson. "We wanted to do better at home, but fell short this time around, so now we shift our focus to preparing for Bowdoin next weekend. Our rookie, Petra had a good showing finishing third individually back-to-back weekends."
A deep Williams squad also competed with a B Team, which finished in 11th place in the 20-team field. That feat was more impressive considering there were only four players: Jackie Lu, Zoe Wynn, Maryanne Grace, and Victoria Kim.Â
Kim's 3-over and Wynn's 5-over, both on Saturday, were that group's best rounds.Â
The team will compete in Brunswick, Maine next weekend at the Bowdoin Invitational.
