Williams Falls to No.1 Trinity

 WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. — The Williams College men's basketball team battled throughout but ultimately fell to No. 1 Trinity College (Conn.), 73–57, on Saturday afternoon at Chandler Athletic Center. With the setback, the Ephs moved to 0–2 in NESCAC play and 10–4 overall.

Williams kept the contest competitive early, trailing by just eight points at halftime, but the Bantams outscored the Ephs 34–26 in the second half to pull away and secure the conference victory.

As a team, Williams shot 38% from the field, including 22.2% from three-point range, and went 13-for-15 from the free-throw line.

EJ Sommers led the Ephs with a career-high 17 points, while Jackson Rein added nine points, five assists, and four rebounds. Aidan Yates and Solomon Marshall each contributed eight points, with Yates pulling down four rebounds and Marshall recording three rebounds and three assists.

Williams' bench provided a spark throughout the game, totaling 32 points in relief as the Ephs looked for momentum in spurts.

For Trinity, Jarrel Okorougo led the Bantams with 18 points, followed by Henry Vetter with 13 and Samuel Norris with 12 in a balanced offensive effort.

Williams will look to bounce back as it continues NESCAC play next week, when it hosts Tufts University on Friday night.
