MEDFORD, Mass. — The Williams College men's basketball team fell on the road to Tufts University, 65–36, on Friday night in NESCAC action. With the loss, the Ephs moved to 10–5 overall and 0–3 in conference play.
Tufts set the tone early, building a 31–20 lead at halftime before outscoring Williams 34–16 in the second half to pull away.
Williams battled defensively throughout the contest but struggled to find offensive rhythm. The Ephs shot 20% from the field, including 2-for-21 from three-point range, and went 12-for-19 from the free-throw line. Williams finished with 38 total rebounds and generated three fast-break points.
Jackson Rein led the Ephs with eight points and added five rebounds. EJ Sommers also scored eight points with four rebounds.
Hudson Hansen contributed seven points and two blocks, Matt DeVine added four points off the bench, and Aidan Yates finished with four points and three rebounds.
Defensively, the Ephs forced 16 turnovers and Onyeraluobu Chibuogwu led with a team high seven rebounds.
Williams' bench accounted for 16 points as the Ephs looked to generate momentum throughout the night.
Tufts was paced by a balanced scoring effort and shot 44.8% from the field to secure the home conference victory.
The Ephs will look to bounce back as they continue NESCAC tomorrow against Connecticut College at 3:00 p.m.
