WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - First-year
Becca White of the No. 13-ranked Williams College women's ice hockey team finished with one goal and one assist, as 10 Ephs tallied at least one point during a 4-1 triumph against SUNY Morrisville Tuesday evening at Lansing Chapman Rink.
"I thought we played well in spurts, but at points got away from our game," said head coach
Meghan Gillis. "We have NESCACÂ games the rest of the regular season and some formidable opponents, starting with Trinity this weekend."
Sophomore goaltender
Eva Bentley improved to 2-0-0 on the season, stopping 19-of-20 shots for the Ephs (9-1-2, 2-1-1 NESCAC). Nora Egri scored a short-handed goal, assisted by Zoe Leas, for the Mustangs (3-12-0, 1-3-0 SUNYAC) in the third period and sophomore goaltender J'Anne Colbow made 42 saves.
Sophomore
Annie Gallagher made a tremendous steal in the Ephs' offensive zone at the blue line, and then found first-year
Savana Littlewood, who netted a shot one minute, 40 seconds, into regulation. White found senior
Maddie Samaan with a neutral-zone pass, and then Samaan slid a pass over to a fast-skating
Isa Healey, who buried the game-winning goal into the net from just beyond the right side of the crease with 15:52 remaining in the opening period.
Sophomore
Charlotte Fetherston utilized a strong forecheck to win a puck in the offensive zone, and then proceeded to snap a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle into the top left corner of the net, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead with 12:04 left in the second. After Morrisville trimmed the lead down to 3-1 with 13:46 on the clock in the third, White made a backdoor cut toward the net and buried a power-play goal into the top right corner off a pass from the left point by senior
Claire Murphy, giving the unit a three-goal advantage with 12:10 left.
The Ephs held a 46-20 advantage in shots on goal and went 1 for 3 on the power play, while killing off the two opportunities on the advantage for the Mustangs. Senior
Jaelyn Keiver went 10-4 in the faceoff circle.
Williams competes at Trinity on Friday at 7 p.m. in Hartford, Connecticut.
