WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Five different student-athletes tallied a point for the Williams College men's ice hockey team during a 4-2 setback against Middlebury Saturday afternoon at Lansing Chapman Rink.
The Ephs (3-9-2, 3-6-0 NESCAC) opened the scoring with a power-play goal 2:51 into the opening period, as first-year
Gates Omicioli made a pass to first-year
Jack Kennedy at the point. Kennedy played catch with first-year
Jackson Krill, and then blasted a shot into the right side of the net for the early 1-0 lead.
The Panthers (7-5-2, 4-4-1 NESCAC) scored the next four goals, as John Halverson and Landon Brownlee tallied one goal and one assist, respectively, during the surge. Goaltender Andrew Heinze made 37 saves in net for Middlebury.
Williams cut the deficit down to 4-2 with 4:37 remaining in the second. Senior
Connor Berg stole a pass on a Middlebury clear attempt, and then executed a give and go with sophomore
Rowan Heithoff before burying a wrist shot into the left side of the net from the left faceoff circle.
Junior
Logan Valkama went 14-3 in the faceoff circle, while sophomore
Jake McManus posted an 16-11 effort. Williams held a 39-23 advantage in shots on goal.
The Ephs will compete in non-conference action against Anna Maria Sunday at 3 p.m. in Lansing Chapman Rink.
