CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - The Williams College Alpine ski team opened its season competing at the Colby Carnival on Friday and Saturday, with the team currently sitting in 7th place. The Nordic portion of the carnival will take place next weekend to determine the final team scores.
The Williams women stood out in the slalom, with Eliza Sullivan finishing third and Chloe Lathrop finishing seventh. Madeline Semet finished 32nd, and on the men's side of the slalom, William Zurbay earned 13th place for some important team points.
In the GS, Chloe Lathrop was 22nd overall, with Magnolia Conacher finishing 28th and Mackenzie Leach in 30th. For the men, Taylor Dulaney was 28th, Chas Benyik was 31st, and Simon Baron finished 35th.
The Ephs sit in 7th place with 193 points going into next week's Nordic competition, holding a slim lead over Bates (192) and Saint Michael's College (191.5).Â
The Alpine team will also be in action next weekend, competing at the St. Lawrence Carnival on Thursday and Friday at Whiteface Mountain. The team sits in 7th place in that competition as well, with Nordic having completed its portion two weeks ago in Lake Placid.
